Was correcting the order of posts on Greg, since I linked to it in The Vault & realized dates on things harvested from Elliequent would be nice. Not all that simple, though, since going back through it is a whole thing. It’s private & accessible only through an alternate Gmail address. Total pain to get to. And even then, I set almost all my posts to drafts back when I knew I was ditching it. And you can’t pull photos from drafts—only from published posts. On top of that, I changed a few post names, and the search function in Blogger’s dashboard is awful.
But I’m stubborn, and I want things how I want them. Case in point, I found a date for Mendocino, but can’t find the original Long Beach post. So now I’ve decided to just privately republish everything on Elliequent so I can do a proper post-mortem, pull anything else I want to, and find the dates for things I’ve moved over here.
Only, there is no bulk publish option. And there are over 1k posts. So that means clicking the publish button one thousand times. I would ask why I do this to myself, but I know why. I know why this is important to me. It’s just a lot of work, and not having realized I’d want so much pulled over, I made things ten times harder for myself, in how I shut down the old blog.
But it’s okay. It doesn’t all have to be done at once. Bit at a time.
Anyway: brought over a couple other barish-bones festival posts (Nocturnal & Beyond 2021 is kinda fun though), corrected the order of posts on Greg, and even added a photo I found in Gmail (the people poo bags). Which is now making me wonder what other gems are sitting in my old emails that I’d want to throw on here…

Alright, after a week+ worth of constant revision, I am finally happy with my More About Me. Like, really happy.
One of these days I will learn to sit on things until they are actually ready.

AHHHHHHH I can put in anchor links! YES YES YES YES I’m so excited. Upgraded my subscription so I have better code injection options but wasn’t at all sure my template would support it BUT IT DOES OMG!!!!
This is massive. This solves my organization problem and opens up all kiiiiinds of possibilities for fun ways to link content, including a full site index & MAYBE A RANDOMIZER??!! SO STOKED OMG.
In other news, I think I fiiiiiinally like my navigation titles. Wanted to keep Elliequent in there somewhere but if I’m going to run two different blog sections, it just makes sense to have Creative & Personal.

Added the spice back to my About. I think my paranoia about some things was probably misplaced. Also, I am now deep in my fucking whatever era. To that end, yes, that’s right. Blog is back on. God help us all.

New page up! The Vault - a revolving showcase for previous work. Why?
Unless I finally commit to the massive project of building out a new site, it’s impossible for me to organize the huge volume of writing here in any truly accessible way. This is a workaround. A way for me to humbly offer up this or that and say, Hey, did you ever read this one?
Reading old stuff reminds me how much I love doing this, and that I should be doing it more.
Oh, and I reenabled New. Same reasons, basically.

Switching back to portfolio mode. Everything from New that wasn’t already in Collections is there now. New content will also go straight to Collections.

My first Window Swap is live! (Needs to be viewed on desktop.) Phase I of updating Photography is complete. Still so much to do there. Added photos of my place now to Spaces, in Allsorts. Switched out a couple photos in Nuptials. Renamed some categories in Collections. Updated some page titles & put taglines back in. Edited some lists & added some new.
Bigger changes: pared down my About, because reasons. Yanked the private blog and Lobby Ellie, because of the same reasons. Decided I am going to keep Peep This after all, but the posts will be temporary & disappearing, like Snapcrap or Snatchcatch or whatever it’s called.

Loved Ones and Music & Festivals are live! Both have splash pages, because there’s just so much content.
Added back some photos to a couple old posts.
Still to do: total overhaul & update of Photos, index of ALL posts (RIP me), and a new page I am incredibly excited to drop in a few weeks.

Shuffling content again. Moved some Allsorts stuff back to Collections. Bringing back some blog posts/series about friends & boyfriends (that will be Loved Ones, currently under construction). Also working on making festivals & music its own collection—need to set it up.
Edited some lists. Added some introductory context to Nuptials.

Updated some of the Collections category names (still not entirely sure of them). Pulled some content while I work out the best place for it. Trashed some other stuff entirely. In shock at how good it felt to do so. I wonder what holding onto it for sentimentality’s sake was keeping me from?

There were a couple of features I wanted to implement (dynamic images & anchor points), but in order to do so I needed to migrate to Squarespace 7.1. But in order to do that, I needed to whittle my pages down to >100. Spent an entire Sunday on it. But then when I previewed my site in 7.1 I hated it. If anything I’ll build something out on a newer template and migrate everything over.
Anyway, hence the new scroll-til-you-die layout of the Collections pages. I needed to consolidate. Though honestly, I think I like it better that way after all. For now. Maybe an index somewhere? Hmmm.

Incredibly excited to be back. So much in the works. Most things will be public; a few, password-protected. Though just for fun, I might start hiding the password somewhere in the site, just smack in the middle of a random paragraph or line of verse. We’ll see.
